This private forum is a place for members of the law enforcement community to be introduced to the DEC concept while having the opportunity to network and to share information or to receive assistance with DEC investigations.

This forum is a place to bring questions and to share experiences with DEC investigations, medical concerns of drug exposed newborns, and children who are environmentally exposed to substance abuse, drug manufacturing, and drug trafficking.
This forum is available to members of tribal law enforcement, social services, or other groups interested in addressing drug endangerment issues on tribal land. Issues of sovereignty and federal law will also be addressed here.
This forum is available for the discussion of the many issues facing the child victim of drug crimes including circumstances in which the victim may remain unidentified throughout much of the investigation process.
This forum is targeted to recovering parents, treatment providers, family members of individuals living a life of addiction, and others seeking to identify red flags, understand drug-related victimization issues, and responding to the needs of children of addicts. This is a safe, supportive place for open discussion of these issues and the offering of constructive recommendations and referrals.
According to a 2005 Census Bureau report, nearly 6 million American children are in the full-time care of grandparents. Even before permanent guardianship is granted, children of addicts may be left with family, or even abandoned. This forum offers a place for grandparents and those providing relative placement care for children of addicts to share their experiences and offer suggestions for system changes that may improve the lives of the children affected.
In 2006, there were an estimated 510,000 children living in foster care homes in the U.S (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2010). Only half of these children had a permanency goal of return to parent. Many of these children are abandoned by parents because their addictions prevent them from meeting the basic care needs and prevent them from making life changes necessary for safe reunification.
This forum is a place for professionals, foster parents, and reunified parents to discuss what to expect from children exposed to drug trafficking and drug-using environments, those who are trafficked themselves in exchange for drugs, and those exposed to the chaos and violence that is so characteristic of the drug world.
This forum offers a place for questions to be asked, experiences to be shared, and policy recommendations to be shared among professionals. Recovering women are especially encouraged to share their experiences with the healthcare system within this forum.
This forum provides a place for the discussion of government, policy, and law enforcement issues as well as jurisdictional issues.
This forum offers discussion of a variety of child protection issues that will be faced by corrections workers. These, including: considering the drug endangered child in the pre-sentencing interview, visitation policies for correctional facilities that prevent the exploitation of children, and victim impact programs for state, federal, and local correctional facilities.
This forum offers a place for federal and state probation officers identify practice methods that will enhance the protection of children who are living with probationers and parolees. Particular issues will include managing probation violations that may be a danger to children when the probationer is revoked or sentenced for the discovered activity.
Although DEC programs are designed to respond to child victims of drug related crime, the aspects of prevention that will enhance a child’s chance of reaching adulthood without developing an addiction of their own.
This forum is dedicated to community members, mentoring programs, school outreach programs, and others who work with children or have the desire to improve the lives of children found living in drug homes.
This forum will feature information about the issue of drug testing as it relates to the supervision of the criminal or civil offender who has children. Particular discussion will be targeted toward the identification of situations of risk posed to children during phases of active drug use and relating to circumstances associated with relapses and returning to a life of addiction.
This forum is a place for members of the faith community to come for information, discussion, and guidance on working with substance-affected parents, the needs of drug affected children, and ways the Church can significantly impact the lives of children rescued from a drug home.
